Now you can decide, but if you have come across a UFO as I have in 1974, viewed at  midnight as I waited for my ride home -at college ( in a spitfire ahhh …those were the days…candy apples cracking in the breeze as cool tart apple juice ran down our chins all while bizzing through the Newtown countryside as your hair -mine and Jim’s long blonde hair, both wiped up in some kind of french twist whirlwind sports car quirk of nature, straight up – don’t know how that works – perhaps a spitfire enthusiast would know…anyway I digress) -waiting for his class to end, when what before my eyes should appear  but a sleigh and eight tiny rein …wait that’s not right… yes… I believe it was a flat-out, clear as a bell , UFO hovering above the tree tops that surrounded the campus, your regular sombrero type with red and green flashing lights around the band, so it lurched forward in 1/2 a sec, I, standing on my bench by now, fell backwards it was so quick then it dropped into the trees ,,,soon after a fellow came walking by… but if you have experienced a UFO  you realize the world is a very mysterious thing-

I say yes!! It exists! (there are many written accounts that are pretty hard to deny), so add it to your retirement to-do list – It’s on mine !!

Have Fun, Smile right now!

 It was a 7 speed -I think…lots of downshifting,

Now it was low- I have a Honda 95,  ( which a certain sector of the male population seem to be enamored of,  I hear comments such as cool, I bet it goes really fast as I sit at lights, my other honda- at the time I owned it- was listed in NY Times as the fastest is that a word? car in the world, when souped up… all of this is merely happenstance – the cars I own always seem to be of interest..Dodge dart 67 need I say more??? )

that is low, BUT,

The spitfire is LOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. maybe couple inches off the ground.

So…Triumph Blue 66?? think so.

Wednesday Night Flash Story For The Workers Of The World

” A Pale Green Mermaid Blog “

( Serial Flash Story)

A few years later…11:30 a.m., Seattle, Washington USA

” You make me feel so young, you make me feel like spring has sprung, every time I see you  grin, I am such a happy, individual….”

The sound of frothing milk, slurping and strains of a Frank Sinatra song filled the small coffee shop.  Raphaella looked across the room, then responded to the thin man sitting across from her.

” That scuttlebutt has been hanging around San Francisco for at least two years, and I have been working on this case for a year, ever since Neil Muniz’s sister asked me to start a missing person search on him.”

She was now sorry she had taken the time to fly up to Seattle.  It would take another two hours for the return trip, which would make her late for her two o’clock appointment with a new client.  And that client was paying.

” Mr. Helleborne, what it all boils down to is that without that tape, it is a non-story, a rumour for conspiracy theorists.”

” But Raphaella, if I may be so brash as to call you that.”  The little man pulled his tweed jacket tight while glancing at the entrance of the Slow Joe Cafe.

” Listen, I just don’t have the time to look into this case any further.  Time is money and right now, I am running low on both.”

“Please.” The man’s voice was trembling.

Raphaella slid on her green raincoat.

“Your friend was scheduled to meet us here at nine.  It is now eleven-thirty.  It looks like another dead-end.  I have to go.”  Raphaella gathered up her notebook and shoved it into her bag.

” The same thing happened in Brazil.  Tapes were everywhere and the evidence was ignored.  Now the tape that you described… well it would be hard to explain away.  Look, I have another client waiting in San Francisco, good luck.  It would be a hell of a story if you were to get that tape.'”  She handed her card to him, and walked out the door into a wall of rain.

Mr. Helleborne watched as Raphaella’s purple umbrella turned the corner and disappeared.  The card read Gator-Eye Investigations.  He sipped the remainder of his espresso and left.

A few minutes later, a tall figure in a rumpled brown suit walked into the Slow Joe Cafe.  Shaking water from his cap, he searched the cafe then shuffled to the table by the front window.  He tossed the manila envelope onto the table, knocking the half drunk cappuccino over.  Seconds later he was gone.

The waitress came over to clean up.  She picked up the stained envelope, and dropped it in the trash can.

“What a mess, sometimes people are such…oh, what’s the use.”  She made her way to the door, flipped the open sign to closed, and headed to the back room.

The End

Wednesday Night Flash Story (“Blonde and sweet,” Just take your coffee Sam, and next time, ask for cream and sugar will ya, please?”) For All The Workers Of The World.

” A Pale Green Mermaid Blog”

( A serial flash story)

” You have fifteen minutes,” Sandra said.  ” Before the soiree begins… then they will be all over us  like a monarch butterfly on a milkweed pod.”

Artell didn’t know who she feared most, the impending military brigade, or the strange ships gliding into the valley.  She scanned the area making sure to keep herself hidden.

The two largest ships were long and shaped like a tube, resting on legs that protruded from the craft.  Adjacent to them were three traditional looking saucers.  They were shaped like a mexican sombrero with pulsating lights of green and red circling counter-clockwise.  The last three ships were triangular with blue flashing lights skirting the lip of the ships.  Two of the triangular ships hovered above, while a third ship remained stuck.  Mild waves were being released from the base of the hovering ships, producing slight vibrations in the ship below.

Sandra pointed to the right side of the valley.  ” Look over there.”

Artell saw a group of figures.  Some were tall and thin with yellow skin, others had short bodies and small heads covered with blue-grey skin and gills with a reddish tinge.  The rest were similar to the creatures they encountered in the forest.  All were engaged in discussions.  She raised her camera and checked the adjustments.  The eyepiece slid against moist skin settling into her eye socket.  Searching for the best view, she stumbled over the rocks until she found an opening that encompassed the developing scene.

Artell lay on her abdomen and started filming.  The whirring of the camera matched the volume of thoughts that folded into her head.  Time was flickering  in and out of reality.  She thought deeply,  maybe for the first time in her life.  ‘ Would the human race be able to face the challenge, or was this the cusp of life as we know it?”  The camera whirred.

” Artell, let’s go.”

The thumping of boots against mud filled the air.

The camera kept filming.

Artell could hear her friend fighting and yelling.  The camera filmed.

Gloved hands grasped her shoulders.  Artell pushed the digital send button on the video. ‘ Neil will be getting quite a surprise when he opens his email,’   She thought as a cloud of black descended over her vision.

Wednesday Night Flash Story(How many more pickles must I stuff into this jar before I can leave for the day, Harry?) For The Workers Of The World

” A Pale Green Mermaid Blog”

(Serial Flash Story Part 5)

” Take that trail, there to the left, it should lead to the ridge above the valley.”  Artell said.  The persistent flutter  of helicopter propellers could be heard pounding through the clouds.

” Sandra you dropped your flashlight.”

Sandra started looking through the vines covering the forest floor.

” Get going, Sandra, or we’ll never….”

” shhh… listen,” said Sandra.  ” The helicopters are getting closer.”

” More reasons to keep moving.”  Artell was several yards ahead and quickly climbing the hill.

Sandra cocked her head.  She gazed back to the edge of the forest.  A steady vibration of air racked the trees.

” I’d know that noise anywhere after two tours in Vietnam.  Troops are being deployed,” Sandra said.  ” The military are here.”

” If we move fast and low, we should be able to make it up that hill. ”  Artell pulled on Sandra’s backpack nearly knocking her down.  ” The only way out is up, Sandra.  Time to tango.”

Adrenaline made the hike up the mountainside feel like a fifty- yard dash.  Bloodied and bruised from the underbrush, they reached the crest of the ridge.  The sight was enmeshed in fractured light.  There were eight ships.  Some were on the ground, some were maneuvering above the ground, one had crashed.  The nose of the ship was stuck in the mud.  Sandra searched the area behind them.  She could see nothing, but heard the click of safety releases on weapons, and the dull hum of sight locators mixed with muffled orders.

synchronistic coincidence?  On ABC  a show premiered about UFO’s using the same term as I am using in my story  for the aliens (the visitors)…as an FYI this story is several years old so it seems to be a synchronistic coincidence although, Carl Jung says there are no coincidences.. hopefully it portends nothing..

By the by this story is inspired by an actual sighting of an actual UFO, in 1973, by me – and  I’m not talking about no dot of light… it was a bona fide saucer, a flat disc with a cap on top , red and green lights moving around the cap – well …some of us are lucky and some of us are not … that is my only explanation!  I will detail the specifics at the end of flash story…( I actually worked for MUFON for a short time gathering other accounts)

And yes I did work in a pickle factory for about one week…too cold- that’s right, I have a very… how shall I say this? checkered career, but somebody’s gotta be the one… I wear the moniker with pride!
