Song  HAPPY BIRTHDAY GUADALUPE      Band KILLERS

The Killers – Happy Birthday Guadalupe Lyrics

Well I woke up Christmas morning and what did I see?
I saw a lovely señorita looking back at me
Named Guadalupe, with big brown eyes
Boy what did you do this time?

Made my excuses and a beeline for the bedroom door
She was beggin’ and a-pleadin’, screamin’, “Por favor,
Mi cumpleaños, stay with me,
Baby it’s cold outside”

We are livin’ in a difficult time
We’ve been walkin’ down a difficult line
Put your feet up baby, it’s Christmas time
Cumpleaños feliz
Happy Birthday Guadalupe

(Our time will come)
(We both hold on)

She gave me coffee and tortillas to console my head
Prepared the slippers on my feet before she made our bed
And blew the candles from her favourite cake
And we kissed beneath the mistletoe

I pulled her body close to mine and I had just one chance
I whispered, “Baby will you marry me for just one dance?”
Infatuation, the things you say
I got scared and I left that night

‘Cause we are livin’ in a difficult time
We’ve been walking down a difficult line
Put your feet up baby, it’s Christmas time
Cumpleaños feliz
Happy Birthday Guadalupe

Deck the halls with rosaries
Wish upon a Christmas tree
Silent night please come to me
Bearing gifts from my… my Mexican angel

At night I wake up cold and lonely, bustin’ at the seams
She haunts the early morning hours of December dreams
My Guadalupe, with big brown eyes
I wanna break the spell tonight

‘Cause we are livin’ in a difficult time
We’ve been walkin’ down a difficult line
Put your feet up baby, it’s Christmas time
Cumpleaños feliz
Happy Birthday Guadalupe

Happy Birthday Guadalupe

I can make it disappear, hey! ” Aeroplane ” Red Hot Chili Peppers

” A Pale Green Mermaid Blog”

Wonderful lyrics leaves you feeling like you did after sliding down your first silver gleaming slide in the school yard. ( remember when slides were made of metal ? Your never gonna get that speed on a plastic slide, I use to slide so fast I’d fly off up  into the air and down on my backside!)

The base guitair is like rubber in motion, love it.. beat it down interlude then drift high  up into the melodic sky ending  in a chorus of children’s voices.

” Music is my A-e-r-o-plane!”

“AEROPLANE”   Song              RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS   Band

I like pleasure spiked with pain and music is my aeroplane,
It’s my aeroplane,
Songbird sweet and sour Jane and music is my aeroplane,
It’s my aeroplane
pleasure spiked with pain,
that motherfuckers always spiked with pain.

Looking in my own eyes (hey lord),
I can’t find the love I want,
Someone better slap me,
Before I start to rust,
Before I start to decompose,
Looking in my rear view mirror,
Looking in my rear view mirror,
I can make it disappear,
I can make it disappear (have no fear),

I like pleasure spiked with pain and music is my aeroplane,
It’s my aeroplane,
Songbird sweet and sour Jane and,
music is my aeroplane,
It’s my aeroplane,
pleasure spiked with pain,
that motherfuckers always spiked with pain,

Sitting in my kitchen (hey girl),
I’m turning into dust again,
My melancholy baby,
The star of mazzy must,
Push her voice inside of me,

I’m overcoming gravity,
I’m overcoming gravity,
(It’s easy when you’re sad to be,)
It’s easy when you’re sad, sad like me

I like pleasure spiked with pain and music is my aeroplane,
It’s my aeroplane,
Songbird sweet and sour Jane,
and music is my aeroplane,
It’s my aeroplane,
pleasure spiked with pain…,

Just one note could make me float,
Could make me float away,
One note from,
The song she wrote,
Could fuck me where I lay,
Just one note,
Could make me choke,
One note that’s,
Not a lie,
Just one note,
Could cut my throat,
One note could make
me die.

I like pleasure spiked with pain and music is my aeroplane,
It’s my aeroplane,
Songbird sweet and sour Jane,
and music is my aeroplane,
It’s my aeroplane,
That’s spiked with pain.

(my aeroplane, my aeroplane, my aeroplane, my aeroplane)
<bass solo>
…it’s my aeroplane..(x80

Song Of The Week ” Far Behind” Social Distortion

” A Pale Green Mermaid Blog “

You feel like you wanna change your life, start a new network, this is the song for you!

Great vocals, guitar riffs, spirit and funny too!

” FAR BEHIND ”  Social Distortion  (there is a great youtube on the “Only Lyrics” web page (2007 soundcheck)

With friends like you, who needs enemies?
you ain’t right, you ain’t never gonna be,
you’re out of the car, I’m afraid you’ve been declined.
you shake my hand, while you’re pissing on my leg
I’m cuttin you loose, I don’t need this misery
your soul is toxic, you ain’t no friend of mine.

You talk real trash when i’m not around
to build yourself up, you gotta to tear me down.
you’ll have to excuse me, i’ve got better things to do.
you smile through your teeth, you talk out your neck
every chance you get you’re gonna stab my back.
your time’s run out, i’ve got nothing left for you..

[Chorus:]
I’m leaving you far behind.
I’m leaving you far behind.
Stop wasting all of my time.
I’m leaving you far behind.

So I’m pulling out the weeds, i’m taking stock
you can talk the talk, but cant walk the walk
Your narcissistic ways have gotten the best of you.
So I’m leaving you to sink, in all your glory
For you and me it’s the end of the story.
Get out of my way, I’ve got better things to do..

[Chorus x3]

With friends like you, who needs enemies?
it means you ain’t right, you ain’t never going
your soul is toxic, you ain’t no friend of mine.

 PEACE

Musical style, influences, and impact (FROM WIKIPEDIA)

Social Distortion’s musical style began as decidedly punk rock or hardcore punk when the band formed in the late 1970s. They are thought to be one of the pioneering bands of the original Southern California punk rock movement out of Orange County, California, and their style closely associated with the The Dickies, The Germs, and other bands from that place and time. In the mid-80’s there was a notable change in their style of music – taking more from their country music and classic rock and roll roots. Mike Ness admits in the DVD commentary from Another State of Mind that he may have even tried too hard on the Prison Bound album. They did eventually find their niche, and the majority of their albums from the mid-80’s on to the early 90’s are considered to be cowpunk or rockabilly – a melodic punk sound that is distinctly – and distinctively – their own.

The music was mostly initially inspired equally by Johnny Cash, Eddie Cochran, and The Rolling Stones, as well as early punk bands like the Sex Pistols The Clash and Ramones, [21] and they have influenced various contemporary artists such as Alkaline Trio, Pearl Jam, Rise Against, Sum 41, The Offspring, Pennywise, Rancid, and Thrice. They began playing with fellow Orange County, California bands such as The Adolescents, China White, and Shattered Faith as part of the nascent hardcore movement. Their music was fast, angry and energetic.

Most of Social Distortion’s songs are written and sung by Mike Ness. There is a common theme in most of his lyrics about “impulsiveness, its consequences and the hard struggle for maturity”

Song of The Week / “Cheap Thrills” Janice Joplin and the Holding Company

“A Pale Green Mermaid Blog”

JANIS JOPLIN and The Holding Company – “Cheap Thrills”

Instrumental ( vocals guitar drums)

Whoa (many) whoas

yeah yeah (many)

come on (many) come on

Whoa

gonna knock it to ya ,rock it to ya , sock it to ya , come on oh yeah

then a little operatic sing fest at the end

Whoo doggie! Man oh man ,oh man ,oh man, I haven’t heard that in a while! what a song, what a great song!

no lyrics all instrumental , listen to it – ya gotta before you die!

you’ll see what I mean  that song is what rock at its best is all about – Janis Joplin was a great singer it is the quintessential song of its time for me, it captures the energy and feeling of that time – If a sentence could mirror that period it would be  ” What the f— was that? I don’t know but it was great!”
