Song Of the Month ” No Good With Faces ” And A Poem-arable ” Butterflies “

pgm offline

BUTTERFLIES ( w/ help from J. Johnson)

Heat

my shoulder

tiny feet alight

eye to eye

why?

moves to my knee,

more heat

we look at one another— — —-

” Who do you think you are?

” Who me?  I say.

Yeah you-there you sit black and tan in hand,

“You know butterflies can’t talk.   Didn’t your mother ever tell you?”

Listen, I have a message from the other side,

“Yeah pray tell, by the way- one of your wings is bigger than the other…”

This is just what we wanted to talk to you about,

” Que?”   ( more heat)

Feel before you speak,

with that the butterfly flitted over my head and away.

I’m lost, I’m too tired, to try.

SONG OF THE MONTH

     JACK Johnson’s  – ” NO GOOD WITH FACES “

No good with faces

And I’m bad with names

Gave me directions

But it’s all the same

I’m lost

I’m too tired to try

Street lamps are broken

Black the way I came

Who broke the moonlight

Watch it wax and wane

I’m lost

I’m too tired to try

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves now

There’s no need for rain

Its our own parade

Let’s not be afraid of our reflections

Its not only you

You’re looking at now

Road signs were stolen

Left here holding this flame

Who stole my patience

Who stole my way

I’m lost

I’m too tired to try

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves now

There’s no need for rain

Its our own parade

Let’s not be afraid of our reflections

Its not only you

You’re looking at now

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves now

There’s no need for rain

Its our own parade

Let’s not be afraid of our reflections

Its not only you

You’re looking at now

Who you looking at now

Who you looking at now

No good with faces

And I’m bad with names

Gave me directions

But it’s all the same

I’m lost

I’m too tired to try

Support Mr. Jack Johnson’s Locks – Worldwide Petition!

” A Pale Green Mermaid Blog “

I missed Jack Johnson’s appearance on The Ellen Degeneress show, to my regret – but while catching the performance on You tube… to my further dismay, I was shocked shocked that his new do had vanished!!!

That renaissance/troubadour freeform coiff disappeared! With curls like that one needs to let them flow, so this is a worldwide petition to request,

with deference, that Jack let it grow let it grow let it grow!!

BTW:  FROM www.thesun.uk.com

Sail away with Jack Johnson

 Published: Today

SURF star JACK JOHNSON is one of the nicest guys in the music world – donating 100 per cent of his tour profits to charity.

And the Hawaii-based singer has shown off his generosity again, giving Bizarre readers an exclusive chance to get a first listen to every track from his chilled out new album, To The Sea.  The scorching preview coincides perfectly with the wave of great weather sweeping the UK.

AND FROM www.spinner.com

Posted on May 25th 2010 4:00PM by Charley Rogulewski

The stripped-down show, which fans got free tickets to after participating in a two-hour beach cleanup the previous Saturday with Johnson’s label Brushfire Records and the Heal the Bay charity, served as a preview of his forthcoming album, ‘To the Sea.’ Johnson sampled a total of five new tracks, with one featuring a reggae, staccato “uh-oh-oh” refrain that will fit nicely with his hits like ‘Flake’ and ‘Bubble Toes,’ which he also played for the eco-friendly audience.

Johnson opened up the set with the new album’s punchy first single, ‘You and Your Heart,’ before launching into songs off each of his other beloved records. Off the more recent ‘Sleep Through the Static,’ Johnson played ‘If I Had Eyes’ and ‘Same Girl’; off ‘In Between Dreams,’ there was ‘Sitting, Waiting, Wishing,’ a ukulele version of ‘Breakdown’ and ‘Staple It Together’; and ‘Wasting Time’ off ‘On and On.’ He even threw in two covers:

“I thought there was a taco truck down there,” Johnson told the adjacent onlookers listening in from the beach, which was about four times as big as the pier, “but then I went on the Ferris wheel and saw it was a screen.” To deal with the huge stowaway crowd, a giant projector screen was set on the sand.

“It’s not banana pancakes, but we’re getting closer,” Johnson joked to a front row heckler throwing out requests. Instead, he opted for the mellower “new love song,” ‘From the Clouds.’ Ironic yet always mindful, Johnson told all the ‘Good People’ down on the coast to pick up after themselves on their way out and then returned for a solo encore of ‘Better Together.’ By the end of the night, few, if any fans, were chilly — the king of surf and mellow moods had warmed everybody up.

‘To the Sea’ is out on June 1

 PEACE!!!

Monsieur Jacques And His Surfer Video

” A Pale Green Mermaid Blog “

This video appears simple at first singing / surfing but upon intense image review (Anyone who has dialup knows what I am talking about although I think my system is unusually slow!!!)  the flow of the piece is quite beautiful ( that’s hard to achieve) at one point he looks like he’s surfing on clouds,

surfing is all about being right here, right  now , in the moment – those are usually the best moments in life …he catches a series of those surfing moments in this video…

The way he just slides off the board into inky spirals expresses that feeling of being completely connected to the natural world, love it ! lotsa fun! and a peek into what it is like to surf after you’ve reached a level of confidence.

The video tunes in with the song’s rhythms and harmonies, a slip, slidey, up, down, upside down in a solipsistic bubble of movement and words and music, I could watch it all day!

Check it out!!!

By the bye the song is ” You and Your Heart ”  ( that guys got a lotta light coming out of him!)

but you and your heart

shouldn’t feel so far apart

you can chose what you take

why you gotta break and make it feel so hard…

You draw so many lines in the sand , better hope the tides will

take all our lives away  ( paraphrasing)

I did a series (still fiddling with it) round  82 of fruit and vegetables floating in  pools with men and women, the outdoor pool I used had great light reflections,

water is so interesting to photograph it ended up with a bride dress, barbie doll and a female figure in the same pool…? so I relate to this piece… simpatico!

I crown this song KING of SUMMER 2010

( A SUMMER OF PEACE)

Adios   ( alright that’s it – I’m buying a board this summer!!!)

New Music Alert – Radio 104.5 Philly, Jack Johnson, G-Love And Special Sauce and Blue October

” A Pale Green Mermaid Blog “

This station I have watched grow into a nice network for listeners and new music and artists, and they keep getting better and better with a focus on the MUSIC and listeners.

The DJ’s, one and all are cool and kind, a great combo!

But something is happening, there is a momentum building, so If you  care about new music and changing the world take a listen.

They have fabulous versions of songs and Acoustic Sunday along with their in house Studio show and New music shows create a virtual coffee house, like in the old beatnik days…you know the beat generation… Jack Kerouac and all that rot.

Here are some recent gems-

Song   Rocky Racoon by Beatles     Covered by  Jack Johnson ( he keeps popping up on my fav tunes)

Now somewhere in the black mountain hills
of Dakota there lived a young boy named
Rocky Raccoon and one day his woman ran off
with another guy!
Hit young Rocky in the eye Rocky didn’t like that!
He said I’m gonna get that boy!
So one day he walked into town!
Booked himself a room in the local saloon.
Rocky Raccoon checked into his room
only to find Gideon’s bible!
Rocky had come equipped with a gun
to shoot off the legs of his rival!
His rival it seems had broken his dreams
by stealing the girl of his fancy!
Her name was Magil and she called herself Lil!
But everyone knew her as Nancy.
Now she and her man who called himself Dan
were in the next room at the hoe down.
Rocky burst in and grinning a grin!
He said Danny boy this is a showdown!
But Daniel was hot, he drew first and shot
and Rocky collapsed in the corner!
Now the doctor came in stinking of gin
and proceeded to lie on the table.
He said Rocky you met your match
and Rocky said, Doc it’s only a scratch!
And I’ll be better I’ll be better
doc as soon as I am able!
Now Rocky Raccoon he fell back in his room
only to find Gideon’s bible!
Gideon checked out and he left it no doubt
to help with good Rocky’s revival.

BAND   G Love And Special Sauce    SONG   Rodeo Clowns

(Written by Jack Johnson surfer/singer/songwriter – written after riding waves with a friend, oo la la I think I am in love, musically that is!)

Come on
Sweepin’ the floors
Open up the doors yeah
Turn on the lights
Gettin’ ready for the night
Nobody’s romancin’
Cause it’s too early for dancin’
But here comes the music

Bright lights flashin’
To cover of your liquor
So many people, so many powers,
So many reasons to buy another round drink it down
Just another night on the town
With the big man, money man better than the other man
He got the plan with the million dollars
Give a damn but
When nobody understands
He’ll become a smaller man
The bright lights keep flashing
Man the women keep on dancin’

With the clowns yeah, yeah, yeah
Pick me up when I’m down yeah, yeah
Rodeo clowns yeah, yeah, yeah
Pick me up when I’m down

The disco ball spinning
All the music and the women
And the shots of tequila
Man they’ll say that they need ya
But what they really need
Is just a little room to breathe
Teeny bopping disco queen
She barely understands her dreams
Of belly button rings
And other kinds of things
Symbolic of change
But the thing that is strange
Is that changes occurred

And now she’s just a part of the herd yeah, yeah, yeah
Man I thought that you heard yeah, yeah
The changes occur yeah, yeah, yeah
She’s just a part of the herd yeah, yeah

Lights out shut down
Late night wet ground
You walk by, look at him but he can’t look at you yeah
You might feel pity but he only feels the ground because
You understand moods
But he only knows let down
By the corner there’s another one
Reaching out a hand
Coming from a broken man
Well you try to live
But he’s done trying
Not dead but definitely dying

With the rest of the clowns yeah, yeah, yeah
Pick me up when I’m down yeah, yeah
Rodeo clowns yeah, yeah
Pick me up when I’m down

Sweeping the floors
Open up the doors yeah
Turn on the lights
Getting ready for the night
Nobody’s romancing ’cause it’s too early for dancin’
But here comes the music

Band  BLUE OCTOBER     Song   SHOULD BE LOVED

( The In house set they did on 104.5 was amazing)

Stop staring, you’re the reason I feel so unhappy all the time
I’ve given you everything I know how
Your standing on the top of my shoe
keeping me from gaining ground
I’m sorry if you feel like I let you down

Can you tell me what have I done so wrong
To you
Tell me what am I supposed to do

“I should be loved by you,
That I know is true
But I cant breathe when you’re around!”

“I should be held at night
That I know is right
But I cant breathe when you’re around!”

You’re too scared,
Scared of all of it …I get that feeling I’m talking to the wall
Can you hear me at all
My world was shaking my mind was quaking, my heart kept breaking
I threw it against the wall
Can anyone feel me at all

Can you tell me what have I done so wrong… to you
Tell me what am I supposed to do
I got a feeling, you’re falling out of love with me
Tell me who am I supposed to be

“I should be loved by you
That I know is true
I can’t breathe when you’re around!”

“I should be held at night
That I know is right
I cant breathe when you’re around!!
Look I can’t breath!”
