The Imbibment For the Fourth I just discovered it! Like a lost Egyptian Pyramid…

” A Pale Green Mermaid Blog “

Here it is-

3 scoops of mint choc chip ice cream

Douse with tequila (pour over)

take mint leaves pulverize ( throw on top)

dust with cocoa powder

place straw in with spoon and have at it

Then listen to Frank, Sinatra of course, Summer Winds

The summer wind, came blowin in – from across the sea
It lingered there, so warm and fair – to walk with me
All summer long, we sang a song – and strolled on golden sand
Two sweethearts, and the summer windLike painted kites, those days and nights – went flyin by
The world was new, beneath a blue – umbrella sky
Then softer than, a piper man – one day it called to you
And I lost you, to the summer windThe autumn wind, and the winter wind – have come and gone
And still the days, those lonely days – go on and on
And guess who sighs his lullabies – through nights that never end
My fickle friend, the summer wind

then The Lady Is A Tramp,

She gets too hungry for dinner at eight She like the theatre and never comes late She never bothers with people she hates That’s why the lady is a tramp
Doens’t like crapgames with barons or earls Won’t go to Harlem in ermine and pearls Won’t dish the dirt with the rest of the girls Tha’ts why the lady is a tramp
She like the free fresh wind in her hain, life without care She’s broke and it’s oke Hates California, it’s cold and it’s damp That’s why the lady is a tramp
She gets too hungry to wait for dinner at eight She loves the theatre, but never comes late She’d never bother with people she’d hate That’s why the lady is a tramp
She’ll have no crapgames with sharpies and frogs And she won’t go to Harlem in Lincolns or Fords And she won’t dish the dirt with the rest of the broads That’s why the lady is a tramp
She loves the free fresh wind in her hair Life without care. She’s broke but it’s oke Hates California, it’s so cold and so damp That’s why the lady. that’s why the lady That’s why the lady is a tramp

Fourth Of July Weekend Art Challenge!!!

” A Pale RED WHITE AND BLUE Mermaid Blog “

Happy Pre Holiday, the challenge is as follows 1. write a flash (or longer) story or 2. paint a watercolor (or do both)

(Finish the story started below or write a new one!)

Somewhere In What Was Formerly Known As The USA, 2030

She hung up the newest contraption guaranteed to eliminate all pests bio and electronic.

” We’ll see, ” she flopped a muskrat on the grill looked over the last series of citations and warnings she

had received from the latest congress and poured her homemade special 5 barbecue sauce over the

carcass.  Five new senates had been formed this year alone she thought, and it was only July.

” I told you the only way to handle them damn bug drones is to pick em’ off one by one, my slingshot is

over there sister have a go. ” He said.

” Yeah and if you get caught they’ll come by and cattle prod you with that new taser-laser thing-a-ma-giggy

like they did Annie last week.

” So, are you going to the fire works tonight?” He said.

Now it is your turn what would happen next?...

Paint a still life which is anything you set up to paint, fruit in a bowl with a plate or cloth is a great first watercolor,

Get arches watercolor paper, hot pressed and a small set of watercolors, Derwent is a good company- the easiest place to buy these items is A.C. Moore or an art store if one is near where you live, surprisingly A.C. has, arches paper which is the best low-end watercolor paper, other types of paper could tear with the water used but not always, Windsor Newton has great brushes,

set up your still life looking for good patterns and colors, leave 4 hours to work ( or longer), with break and viola a masterpiece!

Paul Cezanne watercolors below

If you have a skull lying around use that!

Happy Holidays!!

Paul Cézanne (US play /sˈzæn/ or UK /sɨˈzæn/; French: [pɔl sezan]; 1839–1906) was a French artist and Post-Impressionist painter whose work laid the foundations of the transition from the 19th century conception of artistic endeavour to a new and radically different world of art in the 20th century. Cézanne can be said to form the bridge between late 19th century Impressionism and the early 20th century’s new line of artistic enquiry, Cubism. The line attributed to both Matisse and Picasso that Cézanne “is the father of us all” cannot be easily dismissed.

From ” Lotus Blossom Blues ” ( Working Title )

” A Pale Green Mermaid Blog “

She took the cross from my basket looking it over carefully, her eyes caught mine and searched for an answer. I felt the ruby burning a hole in my pocket.  She wrapped the cross back up in the protective rags and reached into my pockets.

I was frozen and embarrassed by the whole matter, but grateful that she merely returned the stone and never said another word about it to anyone at the camp.

Later in the excavation I had a private moment with her and began to explain how this mistake had happened. She waved her hand and said no more needed to be related about it since she had intrinsically sensed that I was not a thief at heart, merely desperate. She asked if I would like to go to the casbash with her for a cup of turkish coffee and that, was the ” beginning of a beautiful friendship ” as Rick once said many years before, in a cafe quite similar.

Have tremendously hilarious night!

Dr Scholls UFOS And The Mysteries Of Life

” A Pale Green Mermaid Blog “

A pair of ” Classic”  forest green suede schools arrived at my front door.   For 15 years my formative years I wore Dr Scholls sandals no socks summer, 3 pairs socks winter and if need be… a pair of converse sneakers graced my feet occasionally.

Around 28 the wooden platform shoes became harder and harder to find so I grudgingly gave them up.

Looking down at the box my now calloused feet jumped, I grabbed the box throwing packing here and there until a pair of wooded beauties lay before my eyes.

I slipped my foot into the shoe not unlike cinderella before the ball then the other and almost immediately I began to spin, twirl on my heels and click that wood together —it was as if my feet were laden with waiting memories.

The spin reminded me of  slipping on the wooden slats  of a bench 11 at night trying to get a better look at my first and only UFO, as I craned to see, it swooshed to just above my head and stepping back my wood scholl get caught in one of the slats…

The swirl reminded me of twirling around after hearing Bruce Springsteen- yes that B. Springsteen yell ” Get them out of here!”  All you could hear were my scholls’ clomping erratically down the hall, he was quite volatile in those days pressure of BTR I suppose… Me and my two springsteen seeking  cohorts vamoosed our way around the college until we managed to get to the Gym hoping that we wouldn’t be asked for tickets —  we weren’!

And finally the click. Scholls’ wooden bases naturally hit each other so you could make a heil hitler click at a moments notice!   I was reminded that whenever I and my friends got ourselves into a fix I would click the heels together and say ” There’s no plaace like home there’s no place like home” ala ruby shoes of Judy Garland,

I could bore you with more but I  have to get out of the house and see what adventures I can scurry up!

Do something today that you did long ago and try to remember who you were and all that youthful exhuberance, it still comes in handy as the sun fades for our generation.

Try to leave the best parts of you behind when you go.  ( we are all going to go, some sooner some later so face it!)

Schaefer Fizz and Dragonfly Tales

” A Pale Green Mermaid Blog “

In my quest to cool down by freezing everything I could get my hands on I tried frost-i-fying a Schaefer can of beer.  The results are thus,

a slushie of overflow

and shaved ice in the can itself-  hold in hand and wait for de-icing to occur!

Rule # 1 one you must open the can prior to placing in the freezer

Rule # 2 place a bowl underneath to catch the slushie mixture

rule # 3 start gardening

Repeat cycle until schaefer is gone or garden project is complete!!!

Whilst moving through the aforementioned process taking care to rest my weary bones in one of many adirondack chairs throughout the perfectly patterned gardenscape…HA! … … my respite included a gander at the latest Paris Review —as I hesitated to ponder my next line of attack on the greenery I rested said mag. on my shoulder and cast a glance to the left, at that moment a dragonfly with a five inch wing span buzzed by, then up and around,  resting at last on the P.R. cover… it was black with iridescent wings- edged in black, but an inch from my cheek.

I looked  over- it  looked at me- and we agreed, this was a great garden moment… minutes later after stretching it’s wings a few times, off it flew.

Remember you never know who you are going to meet in a garden so include it in life’s meanderings.  (bring along the Schaefer to help you reflect)
