Earth Day Ideas And Reflections

” A Pale Green Mermaid Blog “

Happy Earth Day !

What is the beat way to save the planet?

A solar focus for energy and World Peace. Why ?

Because a solar focus, is a bubble up energy source that everyone has at their fingertips, along with a great solar invention, say a device that filters dirty water into drinkable water and viola the planet is looking alot better.

THE SUN ! is accessible to everyone, what a gift worldwide it would be as water becomes more scarce and populations  grow.  This is just one way solar can and will save the planet.

The second bubble up process that can be at the fingertips of everyone across the globe, is a way a plan to bring world peace.

A system that any country or individual can access to resolve conflicts because no one wants to die or kill, they do so when their lives are unbearable personally.

Fighting, killing, surveillance, tossing hard-fought rights to the side during a crisis
will not keep us safe or help to create peace.  Systems such as our justice system, that tries to treat each individual fairly and equally will create peace, longterm and justice will prevail.

So, as we celebrate this opportunity to reflect on our luscious green globe let all of us think and offer our ideas on how we can save our planet for the next seven generations.

Quotes of note –

Because we are now running out of gas and oil, we must prepare quickly for a third change, to strict conservation and to the use of coal and permanent renewable energy sources, like solar power.

JIMMY CARTER, televised speech, Apr. 18, 1977

Ben Franklin said “They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

There can be no peace in the world so long as a large proportion of the population lack the necessities of life and believe that a change of the political and economic system will make them available. World peace must be based on world plenty.

Calling America bull-like, former President Jimmy Carter told a crowd of 3,000 people today at Lafayette College that the country should stop detaining prisoners at Guantanamo Bay, end its drone program and work for peace.

“Almost constantly since World War II, our nation has been at war,” Carter said. “I would like our country in the future to have a reputation for peace — I think that’s a characteristic of a super power.”

The United States was once a human rights leader but is now violating 10 of the 30 articles in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, including the use of drones and imprisoning people without the right to due process, Carter said. He also said the country hasn’t had an environmental leader since former President George H.W. Bush.

“We need to stop and think what is there about America that can be improved,” he said. “I’m not criticizing America because I know America is the greatest nation on earth.”
